How top restaurants brand their boards

Why branded serving boards work, how laser engraving puts your logo into the wood, and real examples from restaurants already serving on custom Lumberjack pieces.

The plate is part of the experience — and so is what it sits on. When a restaurant serves a steak, a charcuterie spread or a flight of mezcal on a custom wooden board with its logo burned into the wood, the brand travels to every table and into every photo a guest takes. Here is how the best kitchens do it.

Why branded boards work

A branded serving piece does three things at once: it elevates the presentation, it makes the moment photogenic (and shareable), and it puts your name in the guest's hands for the length of the meal. Unlike a printed menu, a board lasts for years of service — it is marketing that pays for itself.

How the logo gets into the wood

We laser-engrave your logo on our own CO2 laser, in our workshop in Tijuana. The mark is burned into the wood, not printed on top — so it does not peel, fade or wash off. You approve the design on a free 3D render before we build, and the engraving is included in volume pricing, with no per-piece surprise.

Real examples

Restaurants already serving on our custom pieces:

  • Trentino — shot and sauce flight boards with stainless cups.
  • Las Tablas — a plating board built for guacamole, salsa and cheese service.
  • Ibérico Tapas y Vino — a cherry service board with an engraved bull logo and brand.
  • Bodega 8 — a full line: a round tray and a paddle with shot wells.
Each piece is designed around how the kitchen actually plates and serves.

Choosing the wood and finish

For service pieces we use dense, fine-grain hardwoods — walnut, mahogany, maple — with a food-safe finish for anything that touches food, or a heavy-use varnish for high-traffic items. An end-grain board is the kindest to knife edges for cutting stations; a solid-wood board is the elegant pick for service and plating.

Wholesale, made across the border

We produce in Tijuana, right at the San Diego border, so we work with restaurants on both sides — handcrafted-in-Mexico quality with cross-border delivery. Pricing is by volume, the 3D render is free, and your logo is included.
