How to build a cheese and charcuterie board
Putting together a cheese and charcuterie board is easier than it looks. This is the formula we use so it looks abundant and balanced:
- 1
Pick 3 to 5 cheeses with different textures and flavors: one fresh (goat cheese or a young brie), one semi-aged (manchego or gouda), one aged and, if you're feeling adventurous, a blue.
- 2
Add cured meats and charcuterie: serrano ham, salami, prosciutto or cured chorizo, folded or rolled to add height and volume.
- 3
Bring in sweet and crunchy contrasts: grapes, figs, berries, dried fruit, nuts, jam or honey to balance the stronger cheeses.
- 4
Finish with bread, crackers and olives, and leave a little open space so the board can breathe.
- 5
Plan for 100 to 150 g of cheese per person as an appetizer, and set a separate knife for each cheese.
Serve the board at room temperature — take the cheeses out of the fridge 30 to 60 minutes ahead — and let your guests help themselves at their own pace.
Boards made for cheese and charcuterie
A few of our favorite boards for serving cheese and cured meats. The parota Tabla Iberia, with its built-in handle, is made exactly for this; the Set Librero brings together three woods — walnut, red mangaris and oak — to keep cheese, meat and produce apart. Depending on the model, boards include a carry handle, rubber feet and laser engraving.

Which wood is best for a cheese board?
For serving cheese you want a dense, close-grained hardwood with a food-safe finish: it stands up to use, won't retain odors and looks beautiful on the table. We work with woods like parota, walnut, mahogany and oak, each with its own grain and color. Because every board is assembled by hand from fine woods, the tone and grain pattern vary from piece to piece — part of what makes yours one of a kind.
Care and gifting
With the right care, a wooden board lasts for years. Wash it by hand with warm water and mild soap, dry it right away and rub in food-safe mineral oil every so often; avoid the dishwasher and don't let it soak.
Looking for a gift? A board with an engraved name or date is a memorable detail for weddings, anniversaries, housewarmings or anyone who loves to host. The laser engraving is included, and most models arrive in a gift bag.
